Franklin Barbecue hosting two Hurricane Harvey benefit pop-ups at Mohawk

Franklin Barbecue lost its smokehouse the weekend that Hurricane Harvey hit Texas and is temporarily closed, but that’s not stopping them from doing their part to help relief efforts around the state.

Aaron and Stacy Franklin’s barbecue operation will host two pop-up lunches on September 17 and 24 at the Mohawk (912 Red River St.), the Red River stalwart co-owned by Franklin’s Hot Luck partner James Moody. The events will run from 11 a.m. until sold out. Tickets cost $30 at the door. The bar will be serving happy hour prices all day, and the event is open to all ages.

As for the restaurant’s temporary closure: Aaron Franklin says he’s hoping to be open in the first couple of weeks in October with limited capacity and then sometime around Thanksgiving for full capacity.
