Recently sold Little Barrel and Brown closing; new owner will bring a French twist

Update: Little Barrel and Brown will keep the same name under its new owner

Comfort food destination and neighborhood bar Little Barrel and Brown (1716 S. Congress Ave.) will close this week, following the sale of the business earlier this month by owners Matt and Andrew Botticelli and Tim Brown. The partners who opened the restaurant in December 2013 sold Little Barrel and Brown to Sebastien Charbonneaux, who recently moved to Austin from France.

The new owners will close the restaurant this Sunday after brunch and intend to reopen on May 26. The kitchen will be helmed by executive chef Cedric Francoi, formerly of Cafe Malta, who will bring a French flair to the menu, which will keep a few diner favorites. There is no word yet on whether the name will change.

The Botticelli brothers also own the Italian restaurant Botticelli’s on South Congress Avenue, which remains open.
