The restaurant has put together the five-course menu from female Austin chefs as a way to show support for the women marching in Washington D.C. this weekend in protest of the Trump presidency, and as a way to support women in the hospitality industry.
“It’s time to do away with the sub-minimum wage and pay all restaurant workers, 70 percent of whom are women, one fair wage. Restaurants need to take the high road on pay and on eliminating sexual harassment from an industry that is responsible for more EEOC complaints than any other,” the restaurant said in a statement on its website.
The five-course meal, which will include sunchoke gnocchi and vermouth-braised pork crepinette, will be prepared by chefs Amanda Turner (Juniper), Susana Querejazu (Barley Swine), Abby Love (Dai Due), Kristine Kittrell (WeatherUp) and Alex Manley (formerly of Josephine House and Bufalina). There will also be a vegetarian menu option. Erin Murtagh of Contigo will make the cocktails, and sommelier Vilma Mazaite (formerly of LaV) will create wine pairings.
The meal costs $75 ($40 for wine pairings), and reservations can be made on L’Oca d’Oro’s website.
