Bouldin Creek Cafe, Aristocrat Lounge donating Inauguration Day profits

One of Austin’s beloved vegetarian establishments (and home of the city’s best veggie burger) and long-time champion of inclusiveness, tolerance and free expression is putting its money where its beliefs are. The Bouldin Creek Cafe on South First Street has announced it will give 100 percent of its profits on January 20 (the day of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration) to organizations that fight for civil rights.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page announced the following:

“In order to contribute to the protection of the civil rights, well-being and safety of marginalizes groups in this country, we pledge to donate 100% of our profits to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

Bouldin Creek is not alone in its resistance to Trump. The Aristocrat Lounge at 6507 Burnet Road in North Austin has followed suit and says on its Facebook page that it will donate 100 percent of its profits that day to the ACLU, Safe Place and the Southern Poverty Law Center. The bar says it will have some fun special cocktails and new beers on tap for the occasion. A reminder: that bar is also where you will find Three Little Pigs, one of the city’s best food trucks and one of my 75 Critic’s Picks in the 2016 Austin360 Dining Guide.
