What did President Obama order at Torchy’s Tacos?

The most powerful man in the world stopped into Torchy’s Tacos at 2809 S. First St. today on his way from the airport to his speech at the Long Center. And he showed up unannounced and welcomed with open arms, according to a rep for the homegrown taco biz that now stretches across the state and up into Colorado.

So, in this election year, what did the president order?

The Democrat (shredded beef barbacoa topped with avocado, queso fresco, cilantro and onions on a corn tortilla), a Republican (grilled jalapeño sausage with shredded cheese and pico de gallo on a flour tortilla) and an Independent (hand-battered and fried Portobello mushroom strips with refried black beans, roasted corn, escabeche carrots, queso fresco, cilantro and avocado on a flour tortilla).  Man of the people.

If I were rolling in his entourage, I would’ve recommended the off-menu Hillbilly, a Trashy Trailer Park (fried chicken topped with green chili queso) topped with bacon.

As he did last year at Franklin Barbecue, President Obama paid with cash.
