The wait for Paul Qui’s exclusive modern kaiseki at the South Congress Hotel (1603 S. Congress Ave.) is almost over. Twelve-seat Otoko will being taking reservations for March on February 5.
People who subscribe to the restaurant’s mailing list will have the opportunity Friday to make reservations for March, with reservations opening up to the general public on Monday.
Starting March 1, on the first day of each month, the restaurant will open reservations at 9 a.m. for the following month.
The restaurant will use a the online ticketing system Tock to make reservations for groups of up to four diners. There will be early and late seating offered between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Groups larger than four must contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The omakase meals created by James Beard award-winner Qui and head chef Yoshi Okai will cost $150, with beverage pairing options that include beer ($75), wine ($75), sake ($75), non-alcoholic ($50), and reserve wines and premium sake ($100).
There is also a furtive little bar adjacent to Otoko, Watertrade, where Otoko diners will be able to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Public hours and more info about the bar will be announced at a later date.
